| Product Reviews from Amazon.com (Rating System 1 to 5) |
| Review | Rating | Last Updated | So far, this ROCKS! WAY COOL SHREDDER!
Let me explain. I tried several "Staples" brand, micro cut shredders, and
was happy with the results, but very unhappy that they could not provide
continuous duty! I researched, even called Fellowes, about what they had
to offer, and this was the result: their C-120C "Binford 2000" cross cut
shredder.
The only complaint is the waste bin is attached to the door, and it is made out of cheap material, probably with slave labor.
Another issue is watch out who you tell. I told co-workers about getting this for my private use, and EVERYONE laughed at me! Scooter said he would use his cheap $20 dollar shredder until it started to smoke! Lizzie-Lou just sat there and smiled. Techno-Matt offered to shred ALL of my paper for my ENTIRE LIFE for $200.00; yet HE is the one who runs out and gets his little EYE-PHONE, EYE-MAC, DROBO (not yet), Hi-Tech-Bicycle (does he ride it?), etc., but that is another story. My "work-wife", Jen, remained in her cube, providing no feedback, but she is like a mercat on Mercat Manor...pipes up and chatters away when something interesting happens. Her real husband and I agree eye-to-eye, and that is get the best you can afford, and buy it ONCE!
Hopefully, this shredder is the answer to that mantra!
I will keep you posted as to its performance!
| 4 | Today | Works well, but has problems We've had this shredder for almost two years. After about 6 months, the red light would come on almost all the time, indicating bin full, even after cleaning out the machine very well. Called for service and the guy came out and replaced the sensors. Fixed that problem. But then it started squeeking and making an awful grinding noise. We would oil it regularly, but the noises would come back after a while. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard. I tried to get Fellowes to replace it, but they insisted on sending out service guys. After three service calls over several months, the problem just got worse. Finally, they agreed to send a new machine. It has a two year warranty, so there is plenty of time to find any problems.
The machine shreds very well, taking 15 sheets of paper without even slowing down, so it works great at what it is designed for. Customer service was always friendly when I called them. When I finally insisted on a replacement instead of another service call, they agreed with no arguements. They even paid to ship the old unit back.
From the other reviews, it seems this unit has some design flaws, so I would not recommend this model. It shreds very well, but the other problems make this just more trouble than it's worth. Find another more reliable model that won't take up so much of your time. | 3 | Today | Fellowes Powershred C-120C 12-14 sheet Confetti Cut Shredder Works great! though says bin is full when there is still room for more shredding. Very good value for your money. | 4 | Today | Powershred C-120C This is an excellent shredder. It runs very quiet. We've been through 2 shredders in the last 3 years but it seems as if we have finally found a quality product that can handle a lot of shredding. It handles 10 sheets at a time without any problem. The unit will occasionally back up especially if you are shredding a lot. The reverse button works great but you still need to open the drawer and release the paper. We have only found this to be a problem when we are shredding a large amount(200 sheets or more)at one continual operation. I would recommend this shredder to any small office that does a large amount of shredding. | 4 | Today | Not worth the $$$....or any $$$ for that matter I own three Fellowes shredders...all purchased from Amazon. This one is a major disappointment. Every few minutes, regardless of the type of paper used, you will have to stop, turn off the unit, pull out the cheap holding bin and manually clear the cutters. This is an ongoing problem. We take care of our equipment, but even with regular oiling, this unit is more trouble than it is worth. Go for the C-14 Powerhouse or the other version of the C-14 (without all the frills). They are both...money well spent. They do the job required without a lot of aggrevation. | 1 | Today | Can't Recommend This On Any Level... It's slim and pretty.......but that's it. If you want a shredder that jams every two minutes, this is the one you want.
For some reason the paper does not fall into the cheap plastic
bin. It shreds a few sheets, the red light goes on, you unplug
it and spend the next 5 minutes clearing the paper away from the
cutters. Plug it in, shred a few, unplug, clear.....blah blah blah. If this is how you want to spend your time, get this machine.
If you want a good, hard working shredder look at the Powerhouse C-14 or the SB95 series. I have one of each mentioned in this review. Can strongly recommend either of the other two, but this Powershred 120C-2 is NOT RECOMMENDED.
The Powerhouse C-14 and less frilly SB95 series are hard working, no nonsense units that won't quit or let you down with proper care. Don't for get the OIL..and don't forget to USE IT.
We have several shredders that get regular use. The C-14 and SB95 have proven themselves time after time. And in the case of the Powerhouse C-14.....year after year. | 1 | Today | Warranty NO good Be advised, the warranty is no good. Fellowes will not honor their warranty. I tried twice already. It doesn't matter what story you have. They find some excuse to get out of it. Don't bother paying to ship the heavy thing back, they will just deny your claim and try to charge you to send something that doesn't work back to you. | 1 | Today | Very Good Shredder We're very happy with our Powershred. We have a medical practice so we do a lot of shredding, and we have gone through 3 other shredders in 3 years. But this is the first shredder we've had that seems well suited to doing lots of shredding in any given day. The smaller home office/ small office shredders can't really take daily usage.
The Powershred 120C is a nice a slim design, and allows for more placement options. As for the weight, that really not a factor since you don't have to move it around. Noise is not a big factor either, it's hard to quantify sound, but as I've said I've had four now, and this is not especially noisy.
It handles 10 sheets at time time easily
Good design, relatively quite, fast, and easy to use and empty. We bought with a rebate so we feel we did very well indeed. | 5 | Today | Powerhouse When it showed up at the door I was a bit surprised. It was a bit bigger than I thought and much heavier. This is one serious piece of equipment. I bought this to replace a smaller strip shredder I had in my home office. Security was the #1 concern...and number of sheets it could handle was #2. This thing is great. A bit overkill for the home office...but I love it. It can shred junk mail without opening it. It handles credit cards with no problems. Just be prepared - it sits about 3 feet tall, but the sideways orientation makes it easily fit between a desk and a filing cabinet or bookcase. It comes with everthing you need to get started - includings bags and oil. My only disappointment is that the inside catch box is plastic corrigated cardboard (maybe because of weight) I just wonder if that will hold up. On the pricey side...but I would say worth the extra money! | 5 | Today |
